Gaston County Beekeepers Association (GCBA) 2025 Bee Saturday Bee Course: This is an all day 8:00am-4:30pm introductory course that is designed to help learn what you need to know to get started in beekeeping. The course covers Basic Bee biology, Castes, Anatomy, Life-cycles, & Pheromones , Apiary Set-up, Wooden-ware & Tools/Equipment, Seasonal Hive Management, Honey Bee Diseases, Pests, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Strategy and Treatment Options, and Harvesting and Extracting Honey. We will have door prizes to raffle off the day of the course as well. Seating for this course is EXTREMELY limited—preregistration is required. Your tuition cost includes the following: classroom instruction, Beekeeping for dummies textbook, 2025 membership in Gaston County Bee Association (GCBA), 2025 North Carolina State Beekeeper Association (NCSBA) membership, and access to our mentor program. In addition to this course, students will be able participate in any remaining classes from the extended course, wooden-ware assembly workshop, and both field days in April where participants will get hands on opportunity to work live bee colonies. The second field day is also a bbq banquet for students and their immediate family at no additional cost. Students will also have the opportunity to purchase bees and wooden-ware at a discounted rate.
